Please Meet Bonnie Somerville Fans of "Friends" or "The O.C." won't need an introduction to Bonnie Somerville. She had substantial supporting roles in both shows. But Bonnie's managers wanted to make ensure that even those who hadn't seen those shows could place Bonnie's face; they used IMDb Publicity Photos. Thus, when industry decision-makers come to her page they saw more than a lifeless, gray "Photo Not Submitted" icon. Her managers clicked on that icon and started the simple, automated process of adding her photo. Use IMDb Publicity Photos today.
IMDb Movie of the Day Possibly the brightest and wittiest of the nine films that Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn made together, Adam's Rib takes their legendary battle of the sexes and transfers it to the courtroom. Adam Bonner (Tracy) works in the New York district attorney's office; his wife, Amanda (Hepburn), is a private attorney with a bent towards women's rights. When a tabloid-ready scandal hits the papers -- wife catches husband with mistress, shoots hubby and gets arrested -- Adam's assigned to prosecute the case. But when Amanda decides that's it's the wife who's been wronged, she offers to defend the woman on the grounds that if a man were in the same situation, he wouldn't be prosecuted. And once the wheels of justice are set into motion, the good-natured ribbing Adam and Amanda give each other over the breakfast table spills into the courtroom and takes on an acrimonious bite, with each absolutely certain they're on the right side of the law. From the sharp dialogue by Garson Kanin and Ruth Gordon to the wordless scenes of Adam and Amanda's domestic life, director George Cukor highlights the seamless, perfect chemistry of Tracy and Hepburn, who moved together as if each could anticipate the other's next movement -- and fought with the zeal of exuberantly charged combatants. (Cukor also showed their romantic side by including real-life home movies of the two frolicking in the Connecticut countryside.) And both actors also showed true dignity by allowing the film's third star -- a new-to-the-screen Judy Holliday -- to steal scenes effortlessly as the wronged wife on trial. - Mark Englehart (more) (Movie of the Day Archive)
