BARRY W. DENNIS, PRESIDENT
CONSIDER: IF EVERY (OR ALMOST EVERY) COMPANY IN EVERY INDUSTRY, ORGANIZATION AND INSTITUTION HAS A WEB PRESENCE, HOW WILL YOUR WEBSITE BECOME A "GO TO" WEBSITE?
ANSWER: CAREFUL INTEGRATION OF YOUR ONLINE AND OFFLINE MARKETING STRATEGY .
Featured Dilemma: The website is up-cost: $10,000+. Monthly cost: $500 +. Results:  Minimal
MY LOCAL RETAIL BUSINESS HAS A GOOD WEBSITE THAT SHOWCASES OUR STORE, A MAP, SOME COPY ABOUT OUR PRODUCTS AND SERVICES, AND ECOMMERCE CAPABILITY.. WE GET ALMOST NO TRAFFIC OR ORDERS FROM OUR WEBSITE.
It sounds like you got caught up in the whole initial industry craziness. I checked your website and note the following:
What's the rationale for your website? Is it really to increase website sales, or to drive business to your retail store?
If you truly believe that it is to your advantage to develop your website further, then you need a comprehensive plan for integrating an  online and offline marketing strategy, including developing an online marketing budget that will build your traffic and sales to the levels you desire. But even before that, you have to decide if you can offer competitive pricing and/or value-added services, unique and/or more merchandise selection than competitors, and most importantly, a method of convincing customers(and prospects) that using your website is THE ONLY WAY TO GO.
That kind of budget may be unwieldy or even dangerous to your survival as a business so you will have to consider this carefully.
On the other hand, you may be better advised to change your thinking and consider that your website is another marketing channel to be sure, but is primarily part of your LOCAL marketing effort, and is entirely focused in this direction.
In summary: 1. Should your business be on the web?
                              2. If so, do you have the capital to make it work?
                              3. If your business really should be locally-oriented, how can your website help your local marketing and  what changes have to be made?
Make the effort and take the time to answer these questions, and you will be ready for success!
Good Luck!  - Barry

How do I start to get some return on our investment in our website?
Our company hired a good website designer, installed a complete suite of software applications for ecommerce,
showcased our products and services with great graphics and ad copy; we feel like we've done everything we were supposed to do, but minimal traffic and virtually no sales through the website.
No noticeable increase in store trafic either.
We're about ready to give it up.
