EXPERIENCE


1965-1976 

 

- founded and operated a free medical clinic/hospital in Indonesia
- Studied the behaviour of the Great-Apes and their language.
- Volunteered as veterinarian at the Surabaya Zoological Park in Indonesia

1977


- Helped to design and build the Singapore Zoo. Supervised and trained animal keepers, animal diets and health. I wrote the first two brochures.
- Lived inside a cage with eighteen Orangutans for six months to study their behaviour and communication.

1978 - 1989

 

 

 

- Invited to the USA by the University of California, USA (UCLA)
-I organised & directed the first orangutan language study in the world. The study included : Teaching an ape named Bulan the language arts of English, sign language and computer, spelling in a phonetic alphabet the method devised by me.
- The amazing results led to scientific publications and a revision of children's teaching methods.

1980

 

-I organised the rehabilitation of chimpanzees from cages in laboratories to the Lion Country Safari in Florida USA
1990 - 1995 - lived in the jungle of Costa Rica while rehabilitating local wildlife.
1996 - 1997 - Lived in private zoo in Riau Province in Sumatra, while organising a site for the rehabilitaion of endangered wildlife and obtaining required licenses

 

LECTURES - Lectured world-wide on the topic of the great Apes and their survival and language. Educating the public about primates and their preservation
FILMS - Still using own funds made two films about orangutans and the destruction of their habitat. These films were shown on international television channels.

SCIENTIFIC PAPERS

 

 

 

- Several scientific papers were published by the New York Journal of primatology
-Acquired primary jungle for animal preserves
- The language program is written up in the Encyclopedia Britannica 1988.
- Francine Neago speaks and writes in French, English,Malay,Spanish, Italian, Serbo_Croatian and sign (Ameshan)
