On January 31, 1871, Foxborough opened its public library in the building that is now known as Memorial Hall (see picture). It was constructed with funds donated by Uriah Boyden, for whom the building was later named. In 1967, the modern Boyden Library (see picture) was moved to its present location, on the other side of the common, on Bird Street. Memorial Hall is now the home of the collections of the Foxborough Historical Commission. |

Many services are found at Boyden Library today. In addition to regular print books and large print books for seniors, the library loans books-on-tape, videos, music audio cassettes and CD's, puppets and toys, and magazines. Users may also reserve passes to area museums, or reserve time on library Macintosh or Windows computers for research and/or personal work. |
The Boyden Library facilities accomodate personal reading, studying, information searching, and/or project work. Both afternoon and evening book discussion groups meet monthly. A strong collection of financial advisory services is available. Foxborough Art Association members exhibit works monthly in the gallery. The Pace Collection contains special genealogical materials. ABLE links the resources of many public and school libraries in 24 area member towns, including Foxborough, and a daily delivery service moves materials quickly among the communities. |
