Join us for an exciting afternoon as Verbelee Nielsen-Swanson, Administrator of Florida Hospital Apopka, chronicles the movements that Florida Hospital Apopka has made, details the state of health care and its direct effects in this community, and shares an important message of what Apopka can expect to come. Main St. Porkie’s Bar B Q will be roasting a pig and all the ‘fixins’. The Chambers 4th Annual Reverse Draw will take place at this event as well. AMBASSADOR OF THE MONTH - WAYNE LEVESQUE

Wayne was born in the Bronx, NY September 29, 1960 and lived in Long Island, NY for 9 years. In 1970 his family moved to the great state of Florida. He met his wife, Terry, in 1978 and they married on March 31, 1979. They have 2 successful kids – Lisa, 26, a teacher at Ocoee Middle School, and Daniel, 24, a network administrator for HRH Insurance Central Florida offices.

On July 1, 1985 Wayne and Terry opened the doors of All Seasons Pest Control, Inc. and are currently celebrating their 20th Anniversary. They joined the Apopka Area Chamber of Commerce in 1996. Located at 435 W. Main St., Apopka, All Seasons Pest Control, Inc. offers indoor pest control for residential and commercial, termite service, rodent service, and lawn treatments for insects and sells do-it-yourself pest control products in their store or on line at www.allspc.com. All Seasons Pest Control, Inc. will be hosting the Business After Hours on October 27, 2005 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.

Wayne currently sits on the Chamber Board of Directors and became an Ambassador in 2005. In his free time, Wayne enjoys going for rides on his Harley Davidson Road King or in his Corvette Coupe, along with listening to music and going to concerts.

The series will focus on Networking.  This interactive seminar will help you gain valuable networking skills to maximize your contacts at any networking event.  You’ll hear from area business owners and Chamber members, about their insight on successful networking techniques.  This is another benefit of Chamber membership!  It’s free of charge to Chamber members.

MEMBER PROFILE - DAVE RANKIN

Dave Rankin is a Senior Vice President with United Heritage Bank (UHB) and oversees the Apopka office. He is an accomplished banker with a commitment to the Apopka area “and no desire to live or work anywhere else.” Why does he like Apopka so much? “The sincerity and down-to-earth nature of the residents” he says.

Dave has spent his entire career in Apopka banking, including 15 years with Barnett Bank, five with Colonial Bank, and four with United American Bank. He is an active leader in the Apopka community. He is a past president of both the Apopka Rotary Club and the Apopka Chamber and currently serves as Treasurer of the Apopka Chamber. His favorite involvement is with Dream Lake Elementary, where he has been a mentor for ten years.

Dave and his wife Gini have lived in Apopka nearly 20 years. They met in the fourth grade at Woodlawn Elementary in Sebring, Florida, where, Dave says, he “used to throw stuff at her.” They have one son, Andy (17), a junior in high school, and two beloved boxers, Molly and Millie (whom many of you met at the Business After Hours in July).

The Apopka office of UHB opened in the winter of 2001 in a single-wide trailer “with nothing,” but is now located in a gorgeous building on Third Street and boasts nearly $30 million in deposits. The Apopka office is the first office the bank actually purchased (others were leased), underscoring the bank’s commitment to the Apopka community.

BUSINESS AFTER HOURS PROGRAM FOR 2006

All businesses interested in hosting the “Business After Hours” for the coming year (2006) must submit their request in writing starting in October of the current year (2005). The request must be received by the Chamber office by November 15, 2005. The Chamber will try to match requests if possible. After November 15th all entries will be placed in a container and 10 entries will be drawn for the following year’s hosts. The “Business After Hours” calendar with the selected businesses will be posted in the December Newsletter for the following year.
