    Research/Educational Interests

    The Myers Briggs Type Indicator

    Research Description

My research explores the fundamental uniqueness of each individual through a systematic approach of understanding personality types. The differences in psychological types and cognitive styles may explain the variety of ways in which people are predisposed to learn and work. Helping people discover more of their own tendencies helps them to understand their strengths and weaknesses. Students need skills to be able to think, communicate, collaborate, and make solid decisions, whether than is in writing or career planning, or whatever. In my research I use the Myers Briggs Type Indicator to consider English language acquisition habits of Japanese college students, as well as looking at type and composition styles, study habits, .

People will discern and decide in contrasting ways that often lead to disagreement. Often, interpersonal dynamics within a group and culture will profile certain values and downplay others. Sometimes these individual or cultural variations can lead to misunderstanding and be interpreted as flaws, weakness or unwanted deficiencies. Understanding of type can reduce interpersonal tension and enhance the harmony for international cooperation and respect. This theoretical assumption has implications for teachers and learners. Students will have certain academic strengths and also particular struggles due to those strengths. My interest is to help bring about an understanding of the psychology of these differences while promoting a respect and appreciation for each person's gifting.
