During the last few weeks after the Minister of Transport sounded that there were various requests from certain quarters to make the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah International Airport into a Low Cost Carrier (LCC) Hub , there has been a lot of discussion via emails and face to face and coffee shop talk on this matter. Having listened to these people and also the silent majority, a petition was drafted and headed by the ADUN of Subang Jaya, YB Dato Lee Hwa Beng, an appointment was set with the Minister of Transport to meet him to explain in greater detail why the SJ/USJ community objected to this new move.

At 11.00 am on Saturday, the minister was kind enough to hear us out. There were six of us who had the opportunity of spending about half an hour to present the community views to him. In short, we have a very interesting and lively discussion. Though in our petition we did not mention about the traffic problem, at this discussion we brought to his attention the implications now that SJ/USJ is being served by the KESAS, NPE, LDP and the under construction Kelana Jaya-Subang Link (the missing link also known as the Second Link). Fortunately the night before, the minister was here in Subang Jaya for the CNY Open House and he could see for himself the chaotic traffic condition. We left him to his imagination what the traffic situation will be like if the LCC materialises. At the end of the meeting, he thanked us for making representation to him as a resident community which is directly affected by the proximity of the airport. At the end of all this, I would say that our meeting with him is a fruitful one. At least we got to talk to him and he heard us out. He told us that our concern will be taken into consideration. I have a strong feeling that Subang will not be a LCC for economic and technical reason and will just remain as it is. The KLIA will be further developed to cater for this area of growth.

Per: Membantah Penggunaan Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (Subang) sebagai penerbangan untuk tambang harga murah (Budget Airflight)

Perkara di atas dirujuk.

2. Kami sebagai Ketua Zon-Zon Jawatankuasa Penduduk (JKP) berikut dan penduduk-penduduk di sekitar kawasan DUN Subang Jaya ingin mengutarakan suara bantahan kami terhadap cadagan untuk menggunakan Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (Subang) untuk penerbangan harga murah (Budget Airflight) berdasarkan factor-faktor berikut.

a) Adalah dikhuatiri penerbangan yang berterusan akan membawa pencemaran udara yang mungkin akan menjejaskan kesihatan penduduk-penduduk persekitaran yang berhampiran.

b) Pencemaran bunyi yang berterusan akan menggangu kehidupan dan cara hidup penghuni-penghuni di sekitar kawasan ini.

c) Semenjak kerajaan menggunakan lapangan terbang antarabangsa KLIA (Sepang) secara sepenuhnya untuk penerbangan antarabangsa dan domestic, maka banyak pembangunan perumahan khususnya pembangunan pesat yang berbentuk apartmen dan kondominium 20 tingkat didirikan di sekitar Lembah Subang yang begitu berhampiran dengan lapangan terbang tersebut dan ini mungkin akan membantu risiko yang tinggi terhadap penduduk-penduduk yang berhampiran.

3. Berdasarkan kepada alasan-alasan tersebut, kami sebagai Ketua Zon-Zon Jawatankuasa Penduduk (JKP) berikut dan ADUN Subang Jaya YB Dato' Lee Hwa Beng menurunkan tandatangan kami untuk membantah cadangan penggunaan lapangan terbang antarabangsa tersebut untuk penggunaan penerbangan harga murah.

4. Pihak kami ingin mengucapkan ribuan terima kasih di atas keperihatinan YB Dato' Seri Chan Kong Choy sebagai Menteri Pengangkutan Malaysia agar isu ini dapat diutarakan di mesyuarat Jemaah Menteri yang terdekat.
