Main purpose :    

              To develop design and manufactureng capability of HVDC system and to gain on the job operation and maintenance experience. Further to estabhlish a facility for futher experiments related to product/system development.

 

 

Main data :   Stage 1 : 100 MW x 100 kV, 6 pulse, Monopolar Ground return operation (other details as per annexure).

HVDC System :

 

              Line Data : 220 kV, Double Circuit A.C. line using Zebra ACSR conductor, 196 km long to be used for final stage Bipolar operation.

 

              Point to point overhead line transmission.

 

 

Electrodes :

              M.S. Ring/Bentonite graphite buried electrode with resistance less than One Ohm.

 

              Electrode line : 2 M00SE Conductors.

 

 

DC Filters :  6th Harmonic : C = 0.9 F, H = 320 mH

              12th Harmonic : C = 0.6 F, H = 117.3 mH

                              and R = 1277 Ohms.

 

 

HVDC Valves : 6 pulse, double valve, water cooled air insulated, 12 thyristors per module and 8 modules in series arm optronically triggered. Device used 55 mm R68L.

 

              Cooling System : Closed loop, demineralised water with water to air cooling.

 

              Smoothing Reactor : 0.45 H, coreless shielded, oil cooled, 1000 A, 200 kV.
