'CSI: NY' Gives CBS the Lead on Friday
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Fast National ratings for Friday, Nov. 19, 2004

Friday might be date night for much of America, but in TV land it's just another opportunity for the networks to fight it out. CBS was named champ on Friday (Nov. 19) with a 6.7 rating/12 share among household, followed by NBC with a 6.4/11. ABC was third with a 5.2/9, while FOX and the WB tied for fourth place, each with a 2.3/4. UPN brought up the rear with a 1.6/3.

It was a slightly different picture for 18 to 49-year-olds. NBC was tops with a 2.9, while ABC and CBS tied for second with a 2.5. The WB came in fourth with a 1.4, followed by FOX's 1.3 and UPN's 1.0.

NBC started out the night strong at 8 p.m. with "Dateline," 6.3/11, doing a tad better than CBS' "Joan of Arcadia," 6.2/11. ABC went the comedy route of "Hope & Faith" and "Complete Savages," averaging a 4.7/9 for the hour, more than enough to beat FOX's encore of the "House" premiere, 2.1/4. WB audiences who watched "What I Like About You" stuck around for "Grounded for Life," giving each comedy a 2.0/3. UPN came in last with "Star Trek: Enterprise," 1.9/3.

At 9 p.m., NBC's peacock again ruled the roost with "Third Watch," 6.8/12, while CBS' "JAG" nipped at its heels with a 6.7/12. A second episode of "Hope & Faith" and a fresh "Less than Perfect" perked ABC up to a 5.1/9 for the hour, and The WB moved up to fourth place with "Reba," 2.9/5, and "Blue Collar TV," 2.4/4. FOX slipped with "Renovated My Family," 2.5/4, but still stayed ahead of UPN's reairing of "America's Next Top Model."

CBS surged ahead and won the night at 10 p.m. with "CSI: NY" grabbing a 7.4/13. NBC dropped to second with "Medical Investigation," 6.3/11, and ABC stayed in third place with "20/20," 6.0/11.
