Qualcomm, Samsung Open Coopetition Era

Mobile phone chip maker Qualcomm announced the initiative to strengthen partnership with Samsung Electronics, a customer and rival, heralding the era of the so-called coopetition, which refers to a business cooperating with its competitor.

SK Telecom Pursues EV-DO Rev.A

SK Telecom, the Korea’s largest mobile carrier, is known to be considering to adopt cdma2000 1x EV-DO Rev.A.

 

“As the next step to EV-DO in the course of network evolution, Rev.A is always open to our option,” said an SK Telecom staff on Wednesday. He also added to say, “ Yet, the decision will come out after all variables are considered, such as balancing with HSDPA, which is the investment focus of next year, possibility of overlapping investment, etc.

Lee, Ki-Tae, President of Samsung’s Telecommunications Network, in an interview with Financial Time on Wednesday, expressed the vision of the Samsung mobile phone as “Samsung wants a big world in its hands.”
