HyperNetwork CHESS ($25 U.S.) is a Macintosh HyperCard based chess program and chess database that also allows play via modem or AppleTalk network. HyperNetwork CHESS offers four modes of play:

  1. Computer mode - you versus the Mac
  2. Database mode - enter games for replay and analysis
  3. Network/modem mode - play an opponent via modem or AppleTalk
  4. Watch mode - allows you to watch an in-progress network game
HyperNetwork CHESS displays a very attractive graphic chess board and pieces. It allows point and click movement of pieces with auto-generation of the gamescore notation. Moves can be taken back in any mode. Games can be replayed a move at a time or the entire game can be replayed automatically. Positions can be edited and entire board positions can be transmitted to an opponent. You may play timed chess with on-screen tournament type count-down chess clocks. In computer mode there are 3 levels of difficultly to choose from. You may also watch the computer analyze its move in the movetree window. You may display the legal moves of any or all of your pieces and display the algebraic square names of all squares. HyperNetwork CHESS offers a notes feature that allows for analysis notes to be synchronized with any moves. There is also a message option that allows you to send messages to an opponent.
