An image of the Stockport Interpreting Unit at work. It is the Council's policy to try to meet the communication needs of its residents by providing spoken word interpreting in the many different languages spoken throughout Stockport.

The Stockport Interpreting Unit was founded in 1986 and provides trained interpreters in over 30 languages spoken in the borough.

The Unit’s interpreters work to agreed standards of professional conduct to ensure that all interpreting is confidential, impartial and of a high quality.
