The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has issued an interim final rule implementing the rules under the Notification and Federal Employee Anti-discrimination and Retaliation Act (the No FEAR Act), P.L. 107-174, regarding the posting of EEO complaint processing data.  Under the Act, Federal agencies must post on its public web site certain information pertaining to complaints of employment discrimination filed under 29 C.F.R. Part 1614.

The No Fear Act Reports

The EEOC has issued new guidance to help Federal Agencies strengthen their equal employment opportunity programs for all Federal employees as required by Section 717 of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Section 501 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.  Management Directive 715 (MD 715) supersedes Management Directives 712, 713, and 714.

OUR MISSION

To develop and enforce civil rights and equal opportunity programs pursuant to existing laws, Executive Orders and regulations and to ensure equal opportunity for all Departmental employees and Federally assisted programs by the Department.

OUR VISION

The Department's workforce is reflective of the nation at all levels and in all occupations; and the Department is a workplace where the quality of work life is valued and there is an environment open and accepting of individual differences and where all employees are encouraged to maximize their potential and to exhibit a commitment to provide quality service to customers.

What is Civil Rights?
No person in the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color, national origin, age or disability be subjected to unlawful discrimination under any program or activity conducted by or which receives Federal financial assistance from the Department of the Interior.  Discrimination includes:  denial of services, aids, or benefits, provision of different service or in a different manner, and segregation or separate treatment.  In addition, sex discrimination is prohibited in Federally assisted educational programs.

How to file an EEO Complaint:
You may file an EEO complaint if you believe you may have been discriminated against on one or more of the following "bases;" race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, physical or mental disability, and/or sexual orientation or reprisal for participation in prior EEO activity.

What is Diversity?
Diversity is a term used broadly to refer to many demographic variables, including but not limited to race, religion, color, gender, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, age, education, geographic origin, and skill characteristics.
