Jib can Jab, but TBL has the Legendary K.O.

Unfortunately the people over at JibJab felt that the usage of clips from their animation 'This Land' was a copyright violation. They state that they don't "sanction the use of their original work to further any political agenda."

Their lawyers sent me a cease and desist letter demanding me to stop distributing the video. I find the whole situation ironic considering the history of JibJab's "This Land" animation. I guess the fair-use doctrine only applies to a elite few.

No Fret.... I've re-edited the video sans the "infringing" clips. The new edit should be streaming now, the downloads should be accessible as well! Big thanks to David from TooStupidToBePresident.com who offered up replacement clips.

Attention All,

Unfortunately I'm forced to remove the video "George Bush Doesn't Care About Black People" from this site and other sites over which I have authority to do so. I will also ask that others whom are distributing the video to stop doing so until further notice. I will be sending a written request to each of those individuals/organizations that I'm aware of. I'd rather not elaborate on the reasons for this action at this time, however I will make a statement concerning the situation in the near future.

So I royally messed things up around here trying to get a MPEG versions up. Things should be back to normal... I hope!

There have been a few request for DVD's and the likes. We'll now they are available too! However, I am limiting them to Verifiable media outlets because of the costs and time associated with producing and shipping them. Contact me with your request at info@theblacklantern.com. Everyone else, if you must have the DVD, i will be posting the image files as well as an MPEG version so that ANYONE can burn their own copy. Please allow me a day or two to get this setup.

Update: 9-16-2005
Alright, today I received a email from my web space provider stating that I am about to exceed my bandwidth limit. So I removed the files so that this page will still be accessible. I expected this, but not within a 48 hour time period. Sweetness! However, I would like as many people as possible to see the video, so I am asking those who have downloaded the video to post it wherever possible on the internet, try and let me know where. If you have a website with excess space/ bandwidth and wouldn't mind hosting the videos, please email me.

Today I completed the music video for the song "George Bush Doesn't Care About Black People" by The Legendary K.O. I don't know much at all about this group and this is the first song I've heard from them, but it definitely moved me enough to produce this music video. Check it out below.

This site is the future home to my online portfolio, more videos are soon to come. (tbl)
