Splashed White: Paint Coat Pattern

 

Splashed Whites are 'lumped' in with overos. They typically have continuous white, from the legs up to somewhere on the midline of the body, and have 1/2 bald to bald faces, and blue eyes. A key to this pattern is the white found on the tail... not typical for the other overo patterns. They are relatively rare, and most horses tested for hearing with this pattern are found to be deaf. There may be some sabino patterns that mimic this pattern. The deafness appears to be geneticly linked, but these horse go on to productive lives with a modified (non verbal) training program. "Gunner" shown below is a champion reining horse.
