DIY Bubble catcher

If the tiny bubbles in the tank are driving you nuts, then the bubble catcher might be a thing for you, its cheap and easy to make.

The bubble catcher is placed in the sump and are designed to take in bubble filled water, separate the bubbles and return to water to the sump.

What you need is.

1 circulation pump

Rubber tubing (to connect the pump)

A PVC coil about 25 inches long

A PVC coil ending

  1. Connect the coil ending to the PVC coil. This is the bottom of the bubble catcher.
  2. Drill two holes for the rubber tubing (which is the same diameter as the pump outlet.)
  3. One hole is drilled in the top of the reactor (about 7 inches from the top of the reactor)
  4. Another hole is drilled a few inches from the bottom of the reactor.
  5. The pump is connected to top hole, this will become the inlet.
  6. Rubber tubing is connected to the bottom hole and the tube lead back to the return pump chamber in the sump.

Now your bubble catcher is complete and ready for setup and use.

The bubble water is pumped into the chamber where the bubbles will rise to the top of cylinder and the bubble free water will leave the bottom of the cylinder and go back into the sump.

Good luck.
