Final!

"English Class in the technology room?" I remember this as my first thought when I learned we had to do work in a technology room with computers. I couldn't possibly imagine the English class using a computer. I was so used to doing English with a pen and paper. This was a new change and I had no idea what to expect with this "New English Class".
It is the fifth month that I have been using a computer in English class. All I can say is that it has it's been a great time using the computers. One thing about this class is that you're never done with one project. I have a project that was given in September and I still hear about it from my teacher in January where in the classes I used to be in you wouldn't hear about a project after you had completed it. The teacher wouldn't tell you to revise it again or even grade it again. There is always room to improve in these projects. Another thing about these projects is that it is always about ourselves. The advantage of working on the computer is that I can see exactly where I improved and how I improved.
The first assignment I was given was to write a poem based a story called The Emperor's New Clothes through many rewrites, and corrections my poem is complete for now. I thought this project was good for us to do because it was a creative way for us to show the teacher we read the story and we can write some poetry. I also thought the story was true about life and if I found the story interesting then I was wondering if the poems would be too.
Another one of my favorite writings is the I am Paper. In the I am I can write who I am and what makes me a genius. The point of this paper is to show how all of us are genius in our own way. Even simple memories of what happened to us count as genius like playing in the snow, reading your first book. This is my favorite writing because the simplest things are considered genius.  The thing that has happened now is that it's getting harder to write theses I-ams because it's getting harder to write about myself.
One thing we have to do every month is the Book Reviews. It shows how the books we read connects to our life or not. This was one of the newest things I have ever done in English class because usually you have to write how the book was but this is kind of saying how the book is like our life.
Through out the year I have received other projects. I think that these projects given to us is to make us think and be able to write an essay and incorporate what we have learned at the same time. This usually means the essay is hard to write. The stories are usually hard to understand and the stories are kind of boring.
The first writing I had to do that was like this was a paper called Opinion. For the opinion essay I had to read ten essays and comment how they dealt with xenophobia. Xenophobia is fear and hatred of strangers or foreigners or of anything that is strange or foreign. This writing made me realize more about the unfairness in the world.
Another difficult writing piece was Harrison Bergeron Essay. I thought this was a difficult piece to write because it dealt with an important issue equality. During the whole essay you had to consider what equality was and what was considered equal. The story itself wasn't clear on its purpose. The story was written hypothetically 1000 years later with equality but some things still didn't seem equal.
The final and last piece of writing I'm going to discuss is My Quest. This paper was given when my teacher told us that he would give us a 90 but all we had to do was prove we deserved the grade. This piece of writing teaches me to work for my grade and that I can defend my grade. It is possible to gain a 90 in the class.
Sorry but the absolute last thing to this class is vety. It's kind of like vocabulary but you use part of the word and find out the entomology of the word. This is confusing but this reminds us to study the vety is hard.
Well this is my webfolio about the Cyber English Class. What do you think of the Cyber English Class?
