ABOUT THE EMBASSY

The Embassy of Senegal in Washington, D.C. was established in 1960.  Former ambassadors of Senegal in Washington, D.C. are:

JURISDICTION

The Embassy of Senegal in Washington, D.C. has jurisdiction in United States, Mexico, Jamaica, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, Panama, Belize, and Grenade. The Embassy also fulfils activities related to the Institutions of Breton Woods (IMF, World Bank).

REGULATORY FRAMEWORK

Cooperation between Senegal and United States is based on joint agreements:

  • Agreement pertaining to economic, financial and technical support signed in Washington, D.C. on May 13th, 1961 ― enacted as Law n° 61-59 of September 28th, 1961 authorizing the President to ratify the agreement
  • Agreement pertaining to the endorsement of American private investments signed in Dakar on June 12th, 1962 and ratified March 13th, 1970
  • Agreement between Senegal and USAID pertaining to supplies for seeds enhancement equipments signed in Dakar on June 19th, 1963 and ratified July 17th, 1963
  • Trade agreement pertaining to agriculture products signed in Dakar on July 3rd, 1963 and ratified July 17th, 1963
  • Agreement pertaining to agricultural products under law (amended) on commercial exchange development and agricultural products aid signed in Dakar on July 13th, 1963 and effective July 13th, 1963
  • Agreement pertaining to air transportation services signed in Dakar on March 28th, 1979 and ratified June 29th, 1984
  • Convention of guarantee between Senegal, real estate trust SICAP and American financial institutions signed in Bamako on June 9th, 1968 ―  enacted as Law n° 69-20 of February 1969 authorizing the President to ratify the convention
  • Agreement pertaining to cooperation in sciences and techniques signed in Dakar on September 30th, 1980 ― enacted as law n° 81-33 of July 2nd, 1981 authorizing the President to ratify the agreement
  • Treaty pertaining to promotion and mutual protection of investments signed in Washington, D.C. on December 6th, 1983 and ratified July 17th, 1984
  • Joint convention pertaining to employment of diplomatic and consular personnel signed in Dakar on April 28th, 1998
  • Amendment bill pertaining to the agreement on air transportation services signed in Dakar on April 1st, 1998
  • Agreement pertaining to air transportation between the Government of the Republic of Senegal and the Government of the United States signed in Washington, D.C. on January 2nd, 2001
