The man who led Wales to their first Grand Slam in 27 years, three-quarter Gareth Thomas has won his first selection to a Lions tour.
Wales' leading all-time try scorer with 34 tries in 83 caps, Thomas has come of age in the past couple of seasons and, despite missing two games in the Grand Slam campaign with a finger injury, has nevertheless been a keen man in the recent revival of Welsh fortunes.
Hugely experienced in Test terms, Thomas made his Test debut in 1995 and has won caps at fullback, wing and centre for Wales.
Currently playing for leading French side Toulouse, Thomas could well feature in Clive Woodward's reckoning for the Lions backline come the First Test.
INTERESTING FACT: Thomas is nicknamed 'Alfie' due to his supposed resemblance
to the title character in the US sitcom 'ALF'.
