About The XML Archive
The data products in the XML archive are captured in the "ADC Dataset" XML standard and are the result of a multi-year project to translate both existing and incoming data into an XML format from an older "ReadMe" ASCII standard. Both meta-data and data are encapsulated by the ADC Dataset format (which inherits its data encapsulation abilities from XDF). The ADC has close to 4000 "datasets" (either catalogs or published journal articles, each with typically 2-3 tables) in the older ReadMe format. Currently only fraction of these legacy datasets have been translated into XML. As part of this ongoing project, we update the XML archive with new translations both on a daily and weekly basis and hope to finish the translation of the majority of the legacy data by 2003. The public may access the translated data from the links given below. Current Number of Datasets In the XML Archive: 1516 datasets Update (24-Sep-02): Funding support under AISRP contract has ended and the ADC datacenter has been itself defunded. This means that conversion of documents into the archive is halted until we can arrange a new funding source (-b.t.)
