Seattle label Suicide Squeeze announced that they have just added Chicago's Chin Up Chin Up to their roster. The band released their debut record We Should Have Never Lived Like We Were Skyscrapers in October 2004 on Flameshovel Records, and have been touring extensively since. The release of the record was bittersweet for the band, as bassist Chris Saathoff was killed in an accident during the recording of the CD. Saathoff and his girlfriend were returning home after seeing We Ragazzi and the Ponys at the Empty Bottle, when an SUV sped through an intersection towards them. Saathoff pushed his girlfriend out of the way of the oncoming SUV, but he was hit and dragged for nearly two blocks. The driver never stopped. Saathoff's killer pled guilty to aggravated DUI and was sentenced to seven years in prison last August. The band will hit the studio this year to record their follow up for Suicide Squeeze with producer Brian Deck (Holopaw, Ugly Casanova, Iron And Wine). The release should hit shelves October 10, 2006, according to the label. Jesse Woghin, guitarist for Narrator, has joined the band on bass. www.chinupchinup.com
