    This page is meant to serve as a guide to anyone who would like to do some research in (mainly genealogical) sources related to the history of Den Ham.

    Den Ham is a rural village which was first referred to in a document in the year 1321 AD. It is likely to be significantly older and surrounding settlements would appear as early as the year 900 AD in some documents.

    The village Vroomshoop emerged in the 1850's, when a canal was the first to cut a vast area of peat- and marshland. The newly dug canal quickly attracted workers and commercial activities.
