Harry Potter fan portal voted top site of 2005

Harry Potter fan site The Leaky Cauldron has been voted the winner of the People’s Choice category in the final stage of the Yahoo! Search Finds of the Year 2005 Awards.

More than 5,000 votes were cast at the Yahoo finds site since the shortlist was announced in January.  The Leaky Cauldron emerged the People’s Choice winner after receiving the most votes in the 4th annual Yahoo! Search Finds of the Year awards.

 

The site is run by volunteers from the UK has grown from a one-man blog into a fully comprehensive Potter fan site and it counts J.K. Rowling herself amongst its fans.

 

Melissa Anelli at The Leaky Cauldron, said: "We're delighted that our readers have voted us People's Choice in the Yahoo! Search Finds of The Year Awards. The online Harry Potter world is enormous and we're thrilled to be able to help avid fans to navigate their way around it."

 

Last week Yahoo! Search announced the Finds of the Year 2005 finds winners selected by a panel of web experts across 8 categories.

 

Internet users are now invited by Yahoo! Search to nominate their personal favourite websites to be considered for the Finds of the Year 2006 shortlist by visiting http://www.yahoo.co.uk/2005finds.
