Starting a Match

To start a match, tap on Game | New Match

 


 

Moving Checkers

Tap on a checker to move it. The die on the left is used first. If you prefer to move with the other die first, tap on "Swap" on the toolbar

 


 

Using the Toolbar Controls

 

 

From left to right, the toolbar controls are used as follows:

Roll

Click this to roll the dice

Pick Up Dice

Click here to pick up the dice and end your turn

Swap Dice

Use this to change which die is used first

Undo

Undo a set of moves

Double

Offer a double

 


 

Changing Settings

Choose Game | Settings to open the Settings dialog box.

 

 

You can change the following settings:

  • Player name
  • The length of the match (takes effect next match)
  • The skill level of the computer opponent (takes effect next match)
  • The length of the pause between computer moves
  • Whether the program should make forced moves for you
  • Whether or not the pip counts are shown
  • Whether or not point numbers are displayed

 


 

Changing Board and Checker Images

Choose Game | Graphics ... to change board and checker images.

 

 

Several boards and checker sets come with BGLightCE, and creating your own sets is fairly straightforward if you've ever used Photoshop or another image editing program. Please download the graphics package for more details.

 


 

Using the Move List

Choose Game | Toggle Move List to toggle the display of the move list.

 

The move list shows the eight best moves for the current position and roll and the equity of each move. Tap on the list to preview the move on the board and then tap on "Pick up dice" to use the move. Or, choose "Undo" to return to the previous state.
