Content Area
The content area area on each page contains articles, lists of topics, search results and resources of interest, depending on which page is displayed. To view an article or resource, click on any link.

Bread Crumb Trail
The Bread Crumb Trail provides easy access back to previously visited pages. To return to a page or resource, click on an item in the bread crumb trail.

Directory
Use the directory to get to the main pages throughout the Newsroom site.


Toolbar
The toolbar features important functional and informational pages useful throughout the site. The features on the toolbar include: Feedback, Site Map, Help, and Language.

Feedback
The Feedback page is for working journalists to report technical problems with the site, as well as share your needs and ideas about future site enhancements and resources.

Site Map
The Site Map provides an overview of all main pages. To go to any page, click on the reference

Help
This Help page provides an easy reference to site functionality and features.

Languages
To choose a language for the Newsroom, select the language from the drop-down menu at the top of the home page of the Newsroom site or at the top of any page. The list shows the languages currently available.

Specific Features

Browse By Topic
An index by topic of all text, stories and news releases, including photos, video clips and sound bites. To find information related to the topic, click the topic to see what it contains. Each topic may contain text, stories, photos, sound bites and video clips.

Many categories have Story Packages that combine information to help you better understand a topic.
 

Church in Your Area
Get local information about the Church, including headlines, stories, Church history and statistics. Select your continent by clicking on the map, and then select your country or area from the drop-down menu.
 

Contact Us
The Contact Us page provides information to help working journalists contact Church public affairs representatives. It contains telephone numbers and email addresses.
 

Comments the news
This link contains corrections and updates to misrepresentations made in published news stories about the Church.
 

News Releases
These are official news releases from the Church. Many of these news releases use indicators to show which articles also contain photos, sound bites, and video clips.
 

Other Stories in the news
This lists the newest stories and news releases in the Newsroom.lds.org site. To see older stories and news releases, look in the Archive of Current Stories.
 

Photos
To download copies of a photo, click on either the High-Res or Medium-Res links shown next to each downloadable photo. The number next to the words High-Res or Medium-Res shows the size the image will take to store on your hard drive.

High-Res photos are 288 dots per inch (dpi) resolution jpeg images. Medium-Res photos are 150 dots per inch (dpi) resolution jpeg images.
 

Printing
To print from any page, click the browser's print button at the top of the browser.
 

Quick Facts
These Quick Facts listed by topic contain brief overviews by topic of the essential history, doctrine and organization of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
 

Search
Using the Search tool is the quickest way to find information, video, sound bites and other items of interest.

How to search Type in any word or combination of words or phrases. When you click the search button, the Newsroom will be searched for any information or resources that are related to the word or words you typed in.

Search Results
To see the results of your search, click on one of the headings to see what your search found. The numbers in parenthesis show the number of items found under each category.

Getting search results that seem unrelated? When searching, all materials are searched to see if they have any related terms or words. If materials have any related terms or words, those materials will be included in the search results even though they may seem at first to be unrelated.

For example, if you type conference center, you will get search results that includes materials with words related to conference such as temple square because the conference center is considered to be part of temple square.

Site Map
The Site Map provides an overview of all areas and features of the Newsroom. To go to a topic or feature, click on the reference.
 

Sound Bites
These are various length sound bites saved in MP3 format that you can listen to or download. To listen to a sound bite, click on the link that says play/download. To download the sound bite, click on the same link using the right mouse button and save the file on your computer. After saving the file you can double open it from your hard drive and it will play.
 

Story Packages
Story packages are collections of information about one topic designed to help you have all the information you need in one place.
 

Toolbar
The toolbar features important functional and informational pages useful for channels throughout the site. The features on the toolbar include: Feedback, Site Map, Help, and a drop-down menu from which you can select a language for the site.
 

Top Story
This is a story selected by the Public Affairs department as the top story of the day about the Church. It may be a news story from a news organization or it may be a news release from the Church.
 

Video
These are various length video clips you can order as needed. Request copies on Beta SP Tape through one of the public affairs contacts.

This site is best viewed using 5.0 or later versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Communicator. Check with Microsoft and Netscape for updates and patches to their respective browsers.
