In this study, Wipro surveyed 90 organizations—that use both Windows and open-source software—to determine the costs of security patch management for both environments under similar conditions.

This study found that in a role-based comparison of the relative security—both quantitative and qualitative—of two different solutions, the number of vulnerabilities and average days of risk were lower for the solution based on Windows Server 2003.
