Thank you for your interest in Meadow Lane Elementary School. Meadow Lane serves a K-6 student population of approximately 650. Our student body is ethnically diverse and we encourage the celebration and study of the many cultures that make up our school family. We work closely with parents and enjoy the benefits of strong community support. Furthermore, we have a reputation for academic excellence provided with a personal touch.

Meadow Lane is fortunate to have an excellent staff of dedicated, caring professionals. We offer strong, balanced programs in both language arts and math. We strive to have all students at or above grade level in these curricular areas. Meadow Lane builds on this base of knowledge and provides students with the opportunity to build in-depth knowledge while applying problem solving and critical thinking techniques to a variety of challenging subjects. Basic skills are stressed throughout all grades. We certainly take pride in the accomplishments of our students.

Our focus, in the 2004-2005 school year, is to improve the literacy of all our students. We strive to have every child reading at or above grade level by the end of the third grade. Meadow Lane uses Open Court curriculum and has had tremendous success with this program. The Accelerated Reader program is also used at every grade level. Our students are encouraged to read books on their personal reading levels and pass computer generated tests for points and prizes.

Another focus at Meadow Lane is the integration of technology into other curricular areas. We have our own computer lab that is used weekly by all students. In addition, most classrooms have a minimum of 4 computers at their disposal. Many of our staff members have availed themselves of advanced technology training. We are technologically on the move!

Meadow Lane has a number of other programs to engage and expand the interest and abilities of our students. Student Council, G.A.T.E., S.C.I.C.O.N., Peach Blossom Festival, Character Counts!, educational assemblies, before/after school tutoring, homework club, high school tutors, and numerous other programs provide opportunities for learning, co-curricular activities, and social interaction.

The primary goals of Meadow Lane Elementary School are to provide opportunities for educational excellence and character growth for its students. We pride ourselves on working closely with parents and community members to develop programs to meet the needs of our entire student population.
