To inspire students toward a lifelong involvement in music, with live, interactive one-hour concerts and workshops featuring classical, jazz, classic popular and/or multicultural music.  The programs are designed to fill major voids in music education (due to budget restrictions, music teacher shortages, socio-economic conditions) in countless numbers of schools or dramatically advance the efforts of music educators where music instruction is available.

To enlist parent and community leader support for quality music education (in keeping with the accepted National Standards of Arts Education) through community concerts featuring the same professional musicians.

Strings for Schools, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1974, gives the gift of Great Music education (classical, jazz, crossover popular, and multicultural music) to pre-schoolers, elementary and secondary school children throughout the Philadelphia area. Philadelphia's finest professional musicians perform 45 minute to one hour concerts and workshops inside schools. Considerable emphasis is placed on reaching young people in schools most musically deficient. All performances are live, educational, interactive, and highly enjoyable for students and teachers alike. These outreach programs have enriched the lives of an estimated 1.5 million students over the past quarter century.
