Consumer Alert was founded in 1977 as a national, non-profit organization for people concerned about excessive growth of government regulation at the national and state levels. We are dedicated to informing the public about the consumer benefits of competitive enterprise and promoting the utilization of sound economic, scientific, and risk data in public policy decisions.
Consumer Alert is the only free-market public interest group whose sole mission is to represent average consumers as purchasers of goods and services in a dynamic and competitive marketplace. Based in Washington, DC, Consumer Alert has members in all 50 states. Consumer Alert is governed by a board of directors and is advised by an advisory council made up of many well-known individuals active in science, education, and public policy.
Consumer Alert is a 501(c)3 charitable nonprofit organization supported by tax deductible donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations. Consumer Alert does not accept any governmental support.
