Moogunghwa(Rose of Sharon) is much loved as the national flower of Korea,
because it symbolizes the strong and simple spirit of the Korean people which
has endured the nations' long and often difficult history.
TaeKukKi(the national flag of Korea) is unique among the national emblems
of the world. Its design does not symbolize geographical or political division.
It also does not portray any great historical event, national aim or ideals of
this country. Rather, the Korean flag symbolizes much of the thought,
philosophy and mysticism of Asia. It encourages contemplation and philosophic
interpretation of the varied meanings of the universe.
Hangul, Korean belongs to the Ural-Altaric language group, a group which
includes such languages as Mongolian, Hungarian, and Finnish. Although Korea
has borrowed many works from Chinese and it seems to resemble Japanese
gramatically, its phonetic system differs completely.
