In addition to meeting local members of the Society, Mr Worthington plans to meet with parliamentarians, business leaders and the media to promote the use of information technology (IT) for regional development.
On Monday morning, 16th September, he will conduct a Professional Development Seminar entitled "Serious Business on the Internet". Mr Worthington will review the Tasmanian Government's new media release home page on the World Wide Web, as well as those from other Australian organisations.
After a lunch-time presentation to staff and students at the University of Tasmania, Hobart campus, he will address a free Public Lecture on "Government in Cyberspace" at Westside Hotel at 8.00pm.
In addition to his ACS responsibilities, Worthington is Web Master for the Department of Defence as well as Deputy Director, Information Management Planning. He is the Defence Representative on the Commonwealth Group and one of the authors of the new Architecture For Access To Government Information.
While in Hobart, Mr Worthington will meet with the ACS Tasmanian Branch Executive Committee to discuss ways of promoting the development of the Information Technology Industry in Tasmania.
