In April 2005, Ed ventured into the eastern Sulu Sea in search of a long-rumoured 15th-century Spanish galleon shipwreck … and found more than he bargained for! Approximately 125km NNE of Zamboanga, Ed discovered the now infamous “Sunken Giant.” This page will detail the latest news of Ed’s discovery.

UPDATE 26/10/05UPDATE!!! Fifth trip to Sunken Giant – incredible new photos!!! Best yet.. We have documented the full height and scope of the statue (see the photos!) How did it get there?! Anyone with contacts who will take this seriously, we need to get the word out! We need answers about what this thing is and who put it there....

UPDATE 19/10/05 – The weirdest development yet ... the analysis determined that the 12 ft. section salvaged from the site is not stone, but BONE. Bone?!? Possible eel/plesiosaur skeleton? Click here for the test result Anyone with possible insight or information, please contact me!

UPDATE 21/09/05 – PHOTOS! Returned from Sunken Giant site with undersea photographic evidence FINALLY! Was not able to get to the full depth so I will return to the site in another few weeks to try to get more photos. This Giant is fast becoming my lifes work.

A close up of what appears to be a giant fin!

UPDATE 18/08/05 – My University contacts are curiously disinterested in pursuing study of the Giant. Reluctant agreement to test the retrieved specimen of stone. Press contacts equally apathetic – feel like I’m beating my head against a wall. Anyone with speculation about the Sunken Giant, please contact me!

UPDATE 11/07/05 – Planning a return trip to get solid photo evidence. Still resistance from the academic sphere. Why the lack of interest in the discovery of the Century?! Seeking scientific assistance from University.

UPDATE 07/07/05 – University marine biologists scoff at discovery of the Sunken Giant. Am receiving no support to pursue this further. Currently looking into possible anthropologists who may be able to shed light on where the statue could have come from. (Indonesian ancient rituals?)

UPDATE 29/06/05 – Return with salvage team; extracted approx. 12 ft segment of stone from the sunken statue (finger? arm?). Segment was dislodged from statue and lay among rubble near “feet” of the Giant. Approx. 14 hours to retrieve specimen. Feeling increasingly that this is no minor discovery.

UPDATE 18/05/05

Sea chart showing the scale of the sunken Giant.

UPDATE 12/05/05 – Return to site with submarine crew out of Manila. We surveyed the freighter from various depths and captured Spectral images (WILL POST ASAP). The plot thickens! Appears to be a giant statue of some kind – images reveal humanoid skeletal structure approx. 200 ft. tall from head to foot. What is this thing!?

UPDATE 19/04/05 – Nitrox dive approx. 190 ft down in Sulu Sea, thought I may have found the elusive “second Diego” Galleon, but instead it seems to be a ruined freighter (20th Century?). At 180 ft disorientation set in, not sure what this thing is except it is absolutely gigantic. 200 feet high?! Most mysterious discovery I’ve encountered.
