Making History – 9/11/2005
Today marks the fourth anniversary of 9/11. It is a day of sadness,
a day of remembrance, and for many, there linger many feelings of
incompleteness. To this day, we have received nothing but obfuscation,
cover-ups, and whitewashed “official” reports from the
neo-conservative Administration who has used the “9/11”
fear as a never-ending battering ram to justify endless wars of
domination, and rapidly eroding liberty at home (just look at New
Orleans for the latest example of eroding liberties). Not surprisingly,
the group doing the covering up is the group with the most to gain
from the 9/11 event. Not surprisingly, the evidence of involvement
in that great crime leads to that same group.
But to many readers, this is old news to an extent. What is news
is outrage from the people. When are people going to show a presence?
When are people going to demonstrate that we are not merely lonely
voices in a crowd, mocked as crazies and lunatics, when history
has demonstrated that false crises, oftentimes provoked by those
with the most to gain, and the tyranny they are used to justify,
are the norm. If government complicity is so compelling, then surely
there must be more voices, and if they all got together, it would
make history indeed.
I believe today was such a day. We made history today.
Today marks a historic day in the anti-war movement, in the 9/11
truth movement, in the fight to bring back our eroding freedoms
from an increasingly tyrannical government and its corporate masters.
To me and many others, it is not an understatement to say such a
thing. Although we still have a long long way to go, I believe this
is a milestone we can look to for encouragement in times of struggle,
as a testament to how far we’ve come.
Today, we marched to demand truth, justice, and the American way
(Superman where are you now). We rallied and marched to demand the
truth behind 9/11 from the media, others in the Establishment, and
anyone else who would listen. In total, I would estimate that there
were several hundred of us who took to the streets, marching from
the New York Times to Times Square, to New Corporation (parent of
Fox News), to Time Warner and CBS, to the United Nations, and finally
concluding at Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza. People like William Rodriguez
spoke, telling us about the suppression of his testimony of explosions
in the towers. We distributed thousands of flyers and literature
to masses of people of all stripes.
More importantly, people listened. People took notice.
What do we make of the question: “When are the people going
to take a stand? We took a stand today. We are enabling the exponential
growth of the 9/11 Truth movement. We are out on the streets en
masse exposing the Big Lie, how the official story of 9/11 makes
no sense whatsoever. By tearing down that domino, we’ve exposed
the bedrock of their lies.
If our cause succeeds, Problem-Reaction-Solution will not work
anymore. We can take our freedoms back, end the senseless killing
for power and profit, and make our children’s world a better
place. We can also have justice for the victims. Is that not historic?
It’s important to remember how far we’ve come. I remember
the first time I encountered the 9/11 truth movement. It was in
April of 2004, and from my impression it seemed small. I remember
a half dozen people meeting in a bar, reflecting on their own experiences
of how they woke up to the truth. I remember first hearing about
a book called The New Pearl Harbor, by David Ray Griffin.
So where do we go from here? I feel we are on the verge of critical
mass. Now, more than ever before, people are receptive to the message
of official story of 9/11 being a fraud. Now is the time to continue
pushing.
My message really goes out to those in the anti-war movement, those
who have distanced themselves from even looking at 9/11 due to fear.
My message also goes out to those who suspect, but dare not look
deeper. Lastly, my message goes out to those who know, but willingly
do nothing, for whatever reason (The most common reasons are fear,
or Desperate Housewives). I have been told many times that it will
not make a difference, that we don’t have the power to effect
change.
I am here to say that we DO have the power, and there is no reason
to be afraid. We should rather be afraid of what will happen if
we do nothing.
To those who believe that we have no power, remember that positive
changes and radical shifts in thinking have almost always begun
as small groups of people passionately telling the truth against
seemingly impossible odds.
Remember that Americans did not become a free people by being fearful.
After all, if this is to become the “land of the free”,
we must become the “home of the brave”. And being brave
means seeking the truth, standing up for what is right, and taking
back our God given freedoms.
The lies cannot continue forever unabated. The truth always wins
out.
I’ll end with these quotes.
"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of
servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home
from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch
down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly
upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."
-- Samuel Adams
"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things
that matter."
-Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr
“In the beginning of a change, the patriot is a scarce man;
brave, hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, however, the
timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot.”

Speakout Against the Media Blackout/Creating a Culture of Truth
I don't think I've ever been this gratified and exhausted at the
same time. I can imagine many of you are feeling the same. Sundays
actions were truly inspiring and powerful. Several of us were at
GZ in the morning with signs and literature where we joined up with
other local activists. There were several thousand people there
including many firefighters, city officials, family members, and
spectators. As expected, there was media from all over the world.
We did four interviews within a half hour. Apart from what we did,
which was measured, respectful and effective, there was a group
of activists from the WingTV site. More on that below.
We got up to the NY Times Building for our 1 PM "Speakout
Against The Media Blackout" to find 240 people there from all
over who came to raise their voices in unison against the criminal
corporate media for their silence on the burning issues and cover-up
of 9/11. We chanted "Tell the Truth" loud enough for the
whole block to hear. Then we marched through Times Square up Broadway
to FOX and CNN, up 6th Avenue to Time/Life, down 5th Avenue to NBC
at Rockefeller Center, then to the UN. This march was seen and heard
by tens of thousands of people in one of the busiest locations in
the world. Over 6,000 pieces of literature were distributed. At
the UN Father Frank Morales, activist and organizer, spoke about
the importance of 9/11 as a global event and the need to have the
International Criminal Court launch an inquiry leading to legal
actions and justice for the perpetrators of crimes against humanity.
We were also addressed by Bob Bowman, Phil Berg, Willie Rodriguez,
Craig Hill, and family member Donna Marsh O'Connor who changed our
lives forever. Donna lost her pregnant daughter Vanessa in the south
tower. The depth of emotion she shared was heart rending as she
revealed her torment from her loss because of the rapacious schemes
for empire by Dick Cheney and the grey-suited mob in control of
this country. She is one of the few family members bold and brave
enough to see the reality of 9/11 and fully speak the truth. It
should be noted that Bob Bowman went on the entire march even though
he has a rare type of lymphoma and may soon need chemotherapy. When
I learned this my respect and appreciation for him rose even higher.
We had great entertainment by Vic & Rob Sadot who sang "The
Ballad of Willie Rodriguez" and other songs of significance
for the day.
During the march I got calls from Channel 5, Channel 11, and some
Japanese network. Willie Rodriguez told me he was interviewed by
CNN, ABC, C-SPAN, and Air America. ABC radio interviewed him along
with Phil Berg and David Ray Griffin. Also, I got a call from an
activist in northern Colorado saying that the main Boulder newspaper
ran another cover story of the movement. That evening their events
brought in 300 people. There's no doubt that the deception of the
official 9/11 story is getting wider attention.
The evening event was also a great success in many respects. It
was called "Creating a Culture of Truth: A Total Approach to
Revealing the Lies of 9/11". First we were treated to a wonderful
feast prepared by some very hard-working and caring 9/11 activists.
In addition to those listed above, we were joined by speakers Mark
Crispin Miller, and Dr. Faiz Khan who had to drive to Pennsylvania
late that evening, but wanted to be with us because it was the only
place he could be with people who are unstuck from the big illusion
and willing to expose it. The speakers all gave a powerful performance,
although we did have one dissenting and discordant voice, Mimi Rosenberg.
This was unexpected, but we dealt with it well overall. Since I
heard her push a 9/11 documentary in recent WBAI fund drive, and
know that she had seen The Great Conspiracy a year ago, I thought
she knew the total picture. That wasn't the case. In essence, she
attributed the militaristic U.S. policy to white supremacy and imperialism,
but doesn't think a New Pearl Harbor was needed to carry to this
agenda. In other words, Mimi ascribes to the blowback theory. She
did acknowledge that the government lies, so I seized the opportunity
to point out that we definitely have common ground there. This commonality
alone can be pursued to make the same case we're making - the government
has violated the law, our trust, and should be removed. The result
is the same. I think the bottom line here is that we must be able
to converse with anyone who doesn't have the information we have
and go through the process of reasoning with them. Before a Q&A
session with the audience we were entertained and motivated by music
from Judy Gorman. Later the Sadot brothers, and the Trudy Silver
trio performed.
Now about the Ground Zero action that morning. Lisa Giuliani and
Victor Thorn, the WingTV crew got there around 9:30. They never
made an attempt to contact us beforehand and coordinate actions
or we would have told them that the whole approach had to be carefully
thought out. I don't know what they were thinking. They showed up
to shout at the throngs of people about the demolitions, seemingly
thinking that this was the magic bullet that would convert the crowds
and cause an immediate agreement and capitulation to truth so we
could impeach the Bush administration the next day. Now there's
an article on the Village Voice site critical of their action, so
their confrontational approach backfired. It's at http://www.villagevoice.com/news/0537,fergusonweb2,67726,2.html.
I think we have to take this as a lesson that no matter what our
facts are, no matter how right we are, when presented in anger and
caustic tone in such a public venue as Ground Zero on 9/11, the
public image we get branded with is that we're disrespectful, insensitive,
unpatriotic, etc. We also should realize that there is no single
magic approach because people react differently depending on their
mental process. Our job is to figure out what that is and convey
information accordingly. Many people respond to other evidence such
as the war games and air defense stand-down, the put options, the
flight cancellations by Pentagon officials, etc. So folks, we have
to remember that trying to expose the truth about 9/11 to the average
American is like trying to give them a drink of water through a
firehose. It's extremely important that we build bridges to the
9/11 families because of their unique position to be heard and have
influence in a wider public forum. However, all the ceremonies and
Ground Zero activities have been ritualized and emotionalized to
reinforce the whole aura of grieving. There is no space for objective
and rational inquiry into what really happened. It seems that this
is part of the psy-op now. This is another powerful example of framing.
This is something we as a movement must learn well.
To further illustrate the point, one weekend later we participated
in a big NYC street fair. An employee of Cantor Fitzgerald, one
of the few remaining survivors, saw our table. He came up to me
and started yelling in my face how he lost his whole company in
the attacks. I tried to explain we've been lied to as a nation and
must work towards the truth. All he did was chastise me for just
being there and couldn't hear a single word I was saying. He had
absolutely no interest in considering anything except for how much
he lost that day. All we can do is hope that someday he'll wake
up to reality, if he can take the shock, that is.
Our work must always involve finding the right message and the
right means of conveying it in relation to who our audience is.
Otherwise, efforts wind up being counterproductive, and we work
too hard to have that happen. We are in no way acting as gatekeepers,
but striving to reach the widest audience possible. Anyway, if you
scroll down the article you'll see that the coverage of our action
at the NY Times depicted us in a much better light. I think we can
feel positive about the decision we made for that day.

Next, we begin planning for an action in November that will call
attention to the legal complaint filed with Elliot Spitzer one year
ago.
Truth will prevail,

Summer Actions for NY 911 Truth
6/27/05 - During the summer months in NYC there are
neighborhood street fairs every weekend. We've just participated
in our first one on the Upper West Side on Columbus Avenue. We were
unsure how we'd be accepted in a commercial neighborhood event like
this, but we were actually welcomed by the organizer, participants
and local activists who were present. Nearly 15 hundred flyers were
distributed with 9/11 information and nearly 150 signatures were
gathered for our petition calling for a real investigation. Our
banner says "NY 9/11 Information Resources - Knowledge
+ Action = Progress".

9/11:
The Quest For Truth Continues
West Park Presbyterian Church
Saturday April 30th
The urgency for truth only gets stronger with time
since new evidence continues to surface. For instance, in recent
news a de-classified CIA report revealed that the FAA had 52 warnings
in the months before the attacks. Also, a recent interview revealed
that firemen know much more than they have been allowed to report,
such as what they were allowed to see and allowed to talk about.
The bottom line is, there is a mountain of information that has
been kept from us
This event served to educate the public on the continuous
need to know really happened on 9/11 and the need to widen our political
awareness to understand the implications that the American people
have been deceived and betrayed by our government. An abundance
of information was presented that raise serious questions into the
official story and show government obstruction into all attempts
into getting the facts.
Speakers included Phil Berg (RICO lawsuit against
Bush administration), William Rodriguez (9/11 survivor), Ray McGovern
(retired CIA analyst), Bob McIlvaine (9/11 family member), Nick
Levis (anthrax research), Kyle Hence (911Citizenswatch), Craig Hill
(Senate candidate from Vermont Green Party), Lynn Surgalla (attended
World Social Forum on behalf of 911Truth), and Les Jamieson (NY
911 Truth coordinator). Also, a special recorded statement from
Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney was viewed which received great applause.
We'll have video available online in a few weeks.
On Feb. 27th, 2005 NY 911 Truth and Code Pink co-sponsored a film
screening of "The Great Conspiracy: The 9/11 News Special You
Never Saw" by Canadian media critic and journalist Barrie Zwicker.
We had 112 people in Community Church witness the latest version
of this powerful film which includes compelling footage of the controlled
demolition of WTC7. Events like this are extremely effective in
educating and organizing the public to understand the events of
9/11 in a manageable framework. If you'd like support in arranging
a similar event for your organization, please contact us at info@ny911truth.org.
We've endured another rigged election and the neocon juggernaut
is pushing forward with it's agenda to create a powerful surveillance/police
state in the "Homeland" as it continues to hostile corporate
takeover of Iraq. Activists within the 9/11 Truth Movement as well
as other progressive organizations must seize the opportunity to
educate the public on the biggest crime ever committed upon the
American people as well as the rest of the world. We must do all
we can to create a system in which full disclosure will be provided,
justice will be carried out, and those responsible will be punished
in accordance with the crime.
