Ballintemple National School has a distinguished sporting tradition. The school is located in a G.A.A./Rugby/Soccer heartland and has links with many sports clubs. Past-pupils of our school have represented Ireland in soccer and rugby. However, pupils from our school also take part in many other sports including athletics, tennis, pitch & putt and chess.

Our Girls Football team made history in 1998 by becoming the first ever team from Crab Lane School to win a Sciath na Scol title. They followed up their success by winning the title again in 1999.
Our Boys Gaelic Football Team also reached the finals of the 2000 Sciath na Scol Competition.

Pupils from our school take part in the Primary School Sports at Páirc Uí Chaoimh, every year. Suzanne O' Donovan and Darragh Dunne won back-to-back County Titles in 1999 and in 2000.

The Inaugural Cork Primary Schools Pitch & Putt Championships were held in 2001. The Crab Lane team was placed third.
Team member, Darragh Long emerged victorious in our own competition. Cómhgháirdeas Darragh!
Our Boys and Girls Tennis Teams represent Crab Lane N.S. in the Cork Schools Tennis Leagues.
Our Girls Soccer Team won the Cork Section of the F.A.I. Schools Cup in 2000. Team member, Catherine Hayden represented Cork in Gaelic Football in the same year.

Crab Lane N.S. has produced an abundance of Sporting Heroes in its long history. Click below to learn more of the "Greats" of the past!
