LECTOR AND LATNLINK DOWNLOAD PAGE
LECTOR is a freeware Windows application designed to interface with William Whitaker's WORDS, a Latin dictionary. It will open any TEXT file (.txt) or rich text file (.rtf) and allow the user to look up Latin words in the WORDS Latin dictionary without the need for an internet connection. Newer versions can also use the built-in LATNLINK feature to create HTML Latin texts with each word linked to an on-line Latin dictionary. While LECTOR only works on Windows-based computers, the HTML files may be viewed on any computer which has an internet browser or may even be posted on the internet for public access.
A new commercial program, entitled Lector Latinus, with several improvements and a large collection of public domain Latin texts is now available. A free trial version (30 uses) of Lector Latinus is available for download here.
