    Point of View

Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home.
Point of View is a fun single-player mod that puts you in the shoes (collar?) of an alien slave on Xen, responding to the invasion from Black Mesa. Or rather, a super-powerful alien that's in the shape of an alien slave. It'll make sense later - trust me. You'll find yourself fighting Black Mesa scientists in hazard suits, but they go down a little easily compared to how Gordon fared against slaves in Half-Life. Of course, using your main beam on an organic opponent also heals you, so there's a major incentive to blast away right there.

You're Not Alone

Generally speaking, you're rarely on your own against the huge armies of helmeted scientists and the occasional tanks and such that come after you. Grunts, slaves and even gargantuas may be teleported in to help you deal with various adversaries. It's a pretty good thing, too, since those submachine guns hurt like the dickens.

It's tiiiiiime to chooooose. Wait, wrong game.
No Multiplayer?

Yes, that's right - Point of View is single-player only. Considering how few good single-player mods there are out there, this shouldn't be a huge deal. Speaking of single-player stuff, although there are lots of medikits and human weapons lying around, you can't pick any of them up, since you're not a human in a hazard suit. Sorry! You can, however, take advantage of those Xen healing pools. Apart from the "leech" power of your beam weapon, it's the best way to handle damage. Oh, and you can break open crates much more easily than you could in Half-Life, but they don't have goodies you can use.

The Bottom Line

Don't just stand there! Grab Point of View now and start killing scientists without any of the guilt! And if you need guilt, you can always attack the other aliens. It's the best of both worlds.

Oooo, sparkly.
How to play

Step 1: Update Half-Life. Grab the latest patch for Half-Life from our files page if you haven't already.

Step 2: Set up Point of View. Download and install Point of View 1.1 (43.9 MB). You might also want to grab these neat-o keen slave hand replacements (121 KB) (shown in the screenshots above).
