The content (text, photographs and graphics) of The Gazette, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is protected by federal copyright laws and may not be reprinted without written permission. The Gazette reserves the right to deny permission to any party seeking to reprint its photographs, articles and artwork for editorial or commercial purposes.
If permission is approved the material must be reproduced with adjacent, prominent credit given to The Cedar Rapids Gazette, including original date of publication of the material.
Requests, on forms provided by The Gazette, must be submitted to The Gazette Reprint Editor, at least 15 days in advance of publication. In additional to describing intended use of Gazette material, parties seeking the permission should provide a copy (or prototype) of the publication in which the material will be used.
The Gazette, to avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest, summarily rejects all requests to reprint its photographs, articles and artwork for purposes of promotion of political causes or candidates.
Permission to reprint a Gazette article, photograph or artwork is granted only for a one-time editorial use. Fees for reprint permission will be based on several criteria such quantity, range and the organization requesting permission. In addition, fees will be assessed for providing copies of photographs and artwork.
Gazette material rightfully accessed by the Associated Press and distributed to for-profit and non-profit publications subscribing to the Associated Press is excluded from all reprint fees, but copy fees for photographs and artwork will be assessed when applicable.
The Gazette will consider requests for reprinting of articles, photographs and artwork for commercial purposes. When Gazette articles, photographs and artwork are published for commercial usage by non-profit and for-profit parties, a reprint fee for one-time usage will be assessed. In addition, fees will be assessed by The Gazette for providing copies of photographs and artwork.
