Michael Porter is the C. Roland Christensen Professor of Business Administration at the Harvard Business School, an executive educator, and a leading authority on competitive strategy. Michael is the author of 14 books and

Competitive strategy and advantage, inner city development
more than 45 articles. His book, Competitive Strategy: Techniques for Analyzing Industries and Competitors (1980), is recognized as the leading work in its field. A frequent consultant to business, financial institutions, and government, michael aslo serves on a number of corporate and philanthropic boards. In 1983, Michael was appointed by President Reagan to the President's Commission on Industrial Competitiveness, and he continues to play an active role in economic policy with Congress, business groups, and as an advisor to foreign governments. Michael's most recent initiative is a study of economic development in America's inner cities. He has received numerous honors and awards for work in his field and was a fellow of the International Academy of Management (1985), the Academy of Management (1988), and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (1991).
