News

CSX, Computer Science eXperience, is a student organization composed of Computer Science students gaining practical, interesting skills outside of the classroom. We also provide useful services to the Calvin community.

Book Connection is a CSX site that helps book buyers and book sellers get in contact. Save $$ on those textbooks!

What can I do? Add or modify any page. See the update page, and UndefinedPages page for ideas. Try stuff in the SandBox.

Welcome 2005-2006 school year

Sign up on the mailing list (MailingLists) if you are interested, and discuss possible interests together on the csx-discuss list. You can even start your own SIG if other people are interested in what you want to work on. Depending on the interest, we may be able to provide you with certain hardware to use.

Nominations & Elections

CSX is now accepting nominations for leadership positions for next year. You may nominate yourself or anyone else. This can be an excellent way to gain some leadership skills for your resume :-) Nominations close Fri, April 1.

Please send your nominations (person's name & position) to leadership @ csx/calvin/edu. We will have the following positions next year:

President Vice President Treasurer OCF Administrator

Feel free to contact anyone in leadership if you have questions

SVN Tutorial - 7pm, Thu March 24 in the ULAB

Dave Brondsema will present Subversion with plenty of hands-on examples for you to follow along with.

Subversion is a code repository system, and the successor to CVS. It is used for file revision control, especially in larger or collaborative projects. Nearly all open-source projects use SVN or CVS.

Second Semester SIGs

  • AI - neural networks and languages
  • P2P & GameDev - Quake II
  • Sysadmin & beginning linux
  • WebSIG - voting system for Student Senate

Discussions for meeting times are happening now, so join the mailing lists (and check their archives) at http://csx.calvin.edu/mailman/listinfo

Also, if anyone is interested in starting a new SIG please contact leadership@csx/calvin/edu. All a SIG has to be is a couple people working together on a project, so if there's anything that interests you and your friends we can help you get started and provide any resources you might need.
