See you in 2010!

We broke down the booth today (pics are up) with heavy hearts and a forward eye to what tomorrow holds. We've had a great time covering NSJ 2005 and wish you all the best in the coming years. We'll keep posting of the next few weeks (more photos) and keep the site up for the forseeable future. You know where to get your content: www.emeritbadges.org

Winding Down

Well folks, it looks like things here are moving towards the finish line here at NSJ 2005. Scattered Midway exhibitors are packing up and Scouts are looking a bit ragged after last night's Arena Show. Nevertheless morale remains high as more Scouts finish up the Electronics merit badge and grab opportunities to visit events they missed during the week. Tomorrow is the last full day here, although it appears as if a lot of the Midway will be packed up starting around midday. The sign at left is from Surveying Merit Badge

The Arena and The Chief

The arena saw President Bush, hot-air balloons, bluegrass, fireworks and much more last evening. Let's hear some comments out there. Check out our latest pics up from last night: www.emeritbadges.org

Not too Draconian...

OK. Even we have hearts here at emeritbadges.org. We've discovered a way to moderate the Blog without eliminating anonymous postings. Therefore, we'll turn the anonymous feature back on. Be warned, we will censor you if you don't toe the line.

One bad apple...

Well folks, it appears yours truly has had to crack the whip a little bit to bring peace here on the Midway. From now on, only registered Blogger users will be able to comment on this Blog. If you don't like it, you can thank our less than family-friendly contributors of the past few days. One thing more: THIS BLOG IS NOT AFFILIATED OR ENDORSED BY THE BSA. We're third party, we're independent, we're loving life. Keep it clean and keep it blogging here where we rock it like no other: www.emeritbadges.org

Well, at least it's not 105 in the shade...

It appears to be raining here at The Hill. Good 'ol, rain-all-day-and-lots-of-mud type precipitation. We've discovered all the good leaks here in our booth and all the folks here seem to be in high spirits despite the grey as we look forward to tomorrow evening's Arena Show. The President's Secret Service trailer is still here. That leads yours truly to the supposition that we're a 'go' for tomorrow evening. You heard it here third: www.emeritbadges.org

This place is BIG

Your humble narrator just walked about 5 miles this afternoon and didn't begin to make a dent in all the exhibits, activities and shows available here. 40,000 Scouts make for a good time and the theme for the afternoon is enthusiasm/hydration fusion. Check out the new pics posted at www.emeritbadges.org

Red, White and Scouting

We're rolling along here on the Midway as we approach the lunch hour. Overcast skies and cool temperatures have made for great moods and productivity this morning. A lot of photos have just been posted: dig it y'all -- www.emeritbadges.org

5K Run kicks off a great day!

This morning's 5K run began at 6 a.m. with a "Honk!" as compressed air horns all over the camp set the runners going. All participants were awarded for participating and we'll have the photos up later this morning at your favorite site: Where else? emeritbadges.org

Arena Show That Wasn't

The pics are up at www.emeritbadges.org of last evenings Arena Show. Forgive the lack of captions. We're working through and extremely slow Internet connection and doing our best. Check out the firetrucks hosing down the kids.

How's the weather, you say? "Feeling Fine."

After yesterday's sweltering heat, today is shaping up to be a nice one as we see temperatures in the upper 70's to low 80's this morning. We're in the process of uploading yesterday's photos. Be patient, and hang in there, you crazy partisan posters. You guys really make it fun.

Arrrrrrgh!

We apologize for our site outages and are working to get the situation resolved. ASAP.

Breaking news: Tonight's Arena Show is canceled. Details TBA later.
