FLASHBACK

More than a half century after her golden era, the pin-up girl (sexy and wholesome, all at once), has rejoined popular culture. A coffee table tome, The Playmate Book: Six Decades of Centerfolds, recently arrived on store shelves; a film about the 1950s’ first lady of pin-ups, The Notorious Bettie Page, opens in theatres this month. A look back at the time that was — and why it has returned.
