How to use the Apple Support site

We continually revise and update the Apple Support website to help you learn how to use your Apple product and troubleshoot issues. Please note that the Apple Support homepage and our technical support articles (aka Knowledge Base) require JavaScript to operate correctly. You will also need to enable cookies in your web browser to use an Apple ID, Discussions, and the Knowledge Base.

Highlights of the Apple Service and Support Site

Our Apple Support website features several helpful tools and sections, including:

Apple ID

An Apple ID account is a secure and unique ID that enhances your Apple online experience. You will need one to participate in our Discussions forums. Read the Your Apple ID Account page to learn more about Apple ID benefits and get instructions on how to create an Apple ID account (it's free).

Product Support Pages

The Apple Support website features individual product support pages for every currently shipping product, as well as earlier ones too. On every product support page, you'll find several helpful resources, including the following:

In addition to the features above, each product support page provides direct access to sign-up for an Apple ID, register your Apple product, register your AppleCare Protection Plan, and more.

Technical Support Articles (Knowledge Base)

We strive to constantly improve and update our technical support articles that make up the Knowledge Base. You'll find tons of articles that address issues and provide steps to resolve them, step-by-step how-tos, helpful tips, and more for all current products and older ones as well (roughly from the introduction of the first Power Macintosh G3 computer in November 1997 to the present). Please be sure to enable JavaScript in your web browser preferences to use the Knowledge Base.

We invite you to share your feedback and offer suggestions on how we can improve our article content, the interface, and any issues you may encounter (please note that technical support is not provided through this feedback forum). Due to the volume of suggestions, we won't be able to reply, but we will read and act upon feedback submitted to us. Your views and suggestions are important to us.

Search

You'll find a helpful Search box in the upper-right part of every page on our Apple Support site that allows you to find troubleshooting and how-to articles in our Knowledge Base. Just enter a few keywords of what you're looking for in the Search field, or use Advanced Search to fine-tune your search. To ensure great results, be sure to read the Improve Your Search Results page.

Discussions

Apple Discussions is a user-to-user support forum that enables anyone who uses Apple products to meet and discuss various topics, resolve issues, ask questions, get tips and advice, and more. For information on how to use Discussions, please visit the Forums Help page. Please note that you will need an Apple ID account if you would like to contribute to the discussions, and be sure to enable cookies in your web browser.

Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Parts and Service

If your Apple product is in need of repair or you need a replacement part, you can request service or DIY parts for many Apple products online. Find more information about these products and services on our Do-It-Yourself Parts and Service page. You'll also find links to instructions for installing DIY parts yourself in HTML, PDF, or QuickTime formats (PDF files are available in several languages too).

Contact Us

If you need to get in touch with Apple to find out your repair or order status, have billing questions, need help with an issue, want to locate an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider near you, or for any other reason, you'll find links to the appropriate information on our Contacting Apple page.
