"Let's not forget what the origin of the problem is. There is no place in modern Europe for ethnically pure states. That's a 19th century idea and we are trying to transition into the 21st century, and we are going to do it with multi-ethnic states."- General Wesley Clark
Yesterday, I was sickened to learn that retired General Wesley Clark has announced his intention to run for the office of President of the United States. Currently, the mainstream media are portraying Mr. Clark as an anti-war candidate who can appeal to moderate liberals and conservatives alike and a tough military man who is strong on security issues but liberal on domestic social issues. However, when I hear the name Wesley Clark, I think of the person who led NATO’s 78-day campaign of destruction, bombing Serbia for its alleged “ethnic cleansing” of the Kosovo Albanians.
I think of the man who, with a straight face, claims that NATO intervention was justified to prevent Serbian forces from committing another “holocaust.” General Wesley Clark is a war criminal, not a peacenik. He belongs in prison, not leading America. When, in 1999, Russian troops secured the Pristina airport, beating American and British troops to the punch, Wesley Clark gave the order to militarily confront Russian forces, which, thankfully, a British general refused to do. A Wesley Clark presidency would certainly lead to a dramatic increase in tensions between the United States and Russia.
One often reads about the false claims of “weapons of mass destruction,” which were used to justify America’s conquest of Iraq. However, false claims of “ethnic cleansing” were also used to rip Kosovo, the birthplace of Serbian culture, away from the Serbs. Michael Wines, a pro-establishment reporter who once had a pie baked with horse sperm slammed into his face (http://www.exile.ru/113/lead.php), triumphantly proclaimed that “fifty-four years after the holocaust revelations, America and Europe had finally said ‘enough,’ and struck a blow against a revival of genocide.” (June 13, 1999, New York Times) The only ethnic cleansing that took place in Kosovo was against the Serbs, after the war, and under NATO watch. In fact, there is much evidence for the fact that NATO, under Wesley Clark’s watch, committed numerous war crimes against the innocent civilian population of Serbia.(http://www.iacenter.org/warcrime/) President Milosevic gets to be on trial before a phony international kangaroo court, and General Wesley Clark gets to run for president. Today, Serbia and Kosovo are no longer political issues.
We must not forget our Serbian brothers, fellow Europeans who had the courage to fight for their sovereignty. We must remind Americans of what happened by protesting Wesley Clark’s campaign for the presidency. Wesley Clark cannot have it both ways. He is now portraying himself as an anti-war figure, but, in fact, he supported the war against Iraq from the beginning. As he stated (CNN, 2/5/03): "The credibility of the United States is on the line, and Saddam Hussein has these weapons and so, you know, we're going to go ahead and do this and the rest of the world's got to get with us.... The U.N. has got to come in and belly up to the bar on this. But the president of the United States has put his credibility on the line, too. And so this is the time that these nations around the world, and the United Nations, are going to have to look at this evidence and decide who they line up with."
Readers can help me protest Wesley Clark by educating Americans about the war crimes he is guilty of. Any Leftist who might be encouraged by the anti-war rhetoric currently coming out of this phony’s mouth might be upset to learn exactly who Wesley Clark really is. In addition, Wesley Clark’s campaign will give us the opportunity to be the one voice of anti-war sentiment protesting against the general. The media will certainly find non-conservative anti-war protests against General Wesley Clark interesting, as will anti-war Leftists. Please don’t forget Serbia, and please don’t allow this power-hungry, anti-European criminal into the White House. Of course Bush is also an enemy of our people, but General Wesley Clark would be far, far worse.
