MISS CALIFORNIA USA® 2006
Tamiko Nash

Tamiko Nash is the 55th MISS CALIFORNIA USA. She is the 3rd African-American to hold the title in its history. Tamiko was crowned MISS CALIFORNIA USA 2006 on September 11, 2005 in Palm Springs, California at the Riviera Resort and Racquet Club.

Nash is a native of Los Angeles and currently works for The Recording Academy® known worldwide for its GRAMMY® Awards. As MISS CALIFORNIA USA, she will raise awareness on behalf of The Beauty of California™, a state initiative inaugurated by K2 Productions, Inc. that recognizes the diversity and spirit of California.

Tamiko earned her B.S. in Child and Family Development from San Diego State University. Upon graduation, she served as an elementary school teacher at Birdrock Elementary in La Jolla, California.
Nash devotes much of her time to her philanthropic work, focusing on family and child development organizations. As a volunteer with 1736 Domestic Violence Family Crisis Centers, she frequently works with young children who are the victims of or have been exposed to domestic violence.

As a family-oriented individual, Tamiko is most content spending time with her family, whether it be taking a trip together or sitting around the kitchen table sharing a meal and getting lost in the constant laughter and banter of all family gatherings.

Nash always dreamt of becoming MISS CALIFORNIA USA® and ultimately Miss Universe. Earning the coveted title of MISS CALIFORNIA USA affords her the opportunity to represent the state of California as she competes for the title of Miss USA during NBC’s live telecast from Baltimore, MD on April 21, 2006.
