Mission Statement of The Italian Hospital Society

The Italian Hospital Society was founded in 1937 with the purpose of serving the Italian-American community with humanitarian and cultural goals. The Society has enjoyed over sixty years of active participation in the Italian-American community through guiding foreign medical graduates, giving scholarships in the field of health services, and intervening to provide help to immigrants in search of a better lifestyle.

At present the Italian Hospital Society is committed to the creation of the Italian Home for the Aged, a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in lower Westchester County that will celebrate Italian-American culture and serve the entire community.  The facility will include an assisted-living wing, independent living apartments, a garden, pool, and theater facilities, as well as other recreational facilities and activities, and a wing for the specialized care of Alzheimer’s patients along with community outreach.  The Italian Home for the Aged will attend to the difficulties that our elderly population will face to ensure that they may pass the remainder of their lives with dignity in familiar surroundings, ensuring their physical and psychological well being.
