New Year, Same Story

Ashish Vaja started out 2006 the same way he ended 2005, on top of the Tour. This time he's joined by Brian Luo in a tie for first place.

Brian Luo also tops the Class A list, by 9.5 points over Paul Fricano, Patrick McElwee, and Steffen Thieme. Wade Christiansen and Sou Her are atop Class B, while Sasha Velikanov, Nicolau Dos Santos, Michael Penway and Samuel Bell all lead Class C. Class D has Tim Budlier all alone at the top, while Geremy Webne-Behrman and Jon Vanderhill lead the Under 1200 section.

The National High School Chess Championships are coming to Milwaukee in 2006! This a major national event that can't come off without a lot of help. We know the local chess community will step up and make sure it happens in true Milwaukee fashion. In order to co-ordinate efforts among the various volunteers and staff, the Milwaukee Chess Foundation is hosting a couple of e-mail lists for prospective TDs and volunteers.

If you're wanting to help out, or just wondering what you can do to help us make this memorable follow the links below to read about (and even join!) the lists. (The TD list is for people wanting to help direct the event, the Volunteers list is for those wanting to help out in the hundred other ways events like this need.)
