Jon Lake, Registration Enquiries Manager

I enjoy working at the GSCC. My work is challenging and as a new organisation there is plenty of scope for individuals to use their skills and experience to input into the GSCC's work and to make a positive impact right from the start. The Registration Enquiries Team, which I manage, handle telephone and email enquiries about registration. These could be something simple like a social worker asking how they can register, to a complex query from an employer asking about disciplinary or criminal issues. It is my responsibility to ensure that the responses my team give are accurate and timely.
The people I work with are enthusiastic, positive and very friendly. I am also enjoying the good work-life balance that the GSCC promotes. As a new father I value my time at home and having come from an environment where profits were first and people were second, this is a breath of fresh air.
I got an immediate positive impression about the GSCC when I went for my interview. It was professional, well-planned and challenging. Up to now, everything I have seen is positive.
Andrew Skidmore, Head of Standards and Registrar

Developing something new is exciting and demanding work! So many people have high expectations of what the General Social Care Council will bring to the sector, and it is really quite a challenge to play a part in making this reality. I've been involved from the beginning, and I'm now working with colleagues to continue and develop our work in registering the social care workforce and dealing with concerns about registered social care workers.
I work with a keen and committed group of people and it's so rewarding to see the results of months of labour as the register grows.
