June 04 2002 - Agent 1.92 is coming soon. Version 1.92 eliminates the seperate product FreeAgent and creates a single product. After a trial period if the product is not registered it will lose some functionality and become FreeAgent, it can be upgraded at any time. Agent 1.92 will be a free upgrade to existing users. This also means Yenc capabilities for FreeAgent users.

Sept 17 2001 - smr-usenet.com updated, pages moved and javascript menu is no longer. Many users had issues with the javascript menu so we decided to remove it. We hope you enjoy the new look.

August 05 2001 - Reviews updated, only 2 left to convert to new format. Work on new pages (or maybe new site?) started in regards to news server software and sales. Interesting news is coming which I don't want to spoil but will be advertised here when complete.

July 25 2001 - Again a long time since being updated thanks to summer holidays. Too many things updated to list here. Updated reviews, a new review section with a better look and some technical information for users that requested it among other fixes and changes.

July 24 2001 - Sadly, Randy from Crannews has contacted me. Crannews is closing it's doors as of midnight tonight. They will be sorely missed. We wish them luck in their future endeavours and if they are interested they have a home here at smr-usenet.com. Thanks to Randy and Craig for being a part of the usenet community and special thanks for the help they have provided in the past.

June 12 2001 - BIG ouch. smr-usenet.com's host had a large drive failure sometime during the night. No email should have been lost but since I had no backups of the message board it is gone. The message board will be reinstalled ASAP. Other updates on hold until the site is back up to 100%.

June 03 2001 - Long Time no update. Agent and Newsbin Pro tutorials completely rewritten in chm format now available for download. Three new reviews as well as updated review page should be up today or tomorrow. Outlook Express, Winrar and Posting tutorials will be available soon as well.

March 26 2001 - Recieved customized version of Newsbin Pro 3.3, thanks to Dana for the support. Downloads updated with new version and expect a new tutorial of Newsbin Pro 3.3 soon. The Outlook Express tutorial is complete, but I haven't had time to put it all together nicely yet. Look soon for downloadable tutorials as well in PDF format.

March 25 2001 - SmR Release list added, a few minor corrections on the site as well. Update on newsfeeds accounts - Due to rumors that Newsfeeds will be restructuring their reseller program we will wait for word from Newsfeeds as to what is happening before we start offering accounts.

March 12 2001 - Downloads updated, this should complete the downloads section and we should have all utilities needed for any user to download from usenet.

March 09 2001 - Open servers updated, however only good and known open servers are listed. Still no email from Forte.

Feb 17 2001 - Downloads updated and a few more to come. Mail may have been returned by error, DNS records have been updated however to make sure they are correct. I was still getting mail so it might have been old records on certain servers with the change to the new host.

Feb 15 2001 - A few pages were updated, nothing really major. Some images on the tutorials were resized so they're smaller.

Feb 11 2001 - The site was fixed last night, not sure what was wrong but it was something on the hosts end. Message board is now up and running, and 2 new news provider reviews are available.

Feb 10 2001 - For some reason the site is broke! SSI is not parsing properly. Support has been contacted and will hopefully be fixed soon. Thanks for your patience.

Feb 10 2001 - The DNS records have been updated and now point to the new domain. Popups are now gone!! Message board is being worked on right now and not up yet. All other pages should be working correctly.

Feb 6 2001 - The new host is up and running. A number of things need to be changed so the DNS will not be updated until everything is fixed up. So far so good.

Feb 04 2001 - smr-usenet.com is moving to a new host. During the next week you may experience problems viewing the site. With the move there will be no more popup YAY!. Mail will not be moved at this time so there will be no interruptions with that. Look for new features and pages on the new site, and we hope that you don't have any problems during the move. Jan 11 2001 - Newsguy still hasn't responded to me. Send an email to bob@newsguy.com and ask him where my check is. I haven't heard from any other premium news providers either. Are they too scared to have their services reviewed? Since I can only assume they are, so I'm going to put up the reviews we've done so far up this weekend.

Jan 03 2001 - Newsguy emailed me back. They have closed my partner account because they didn't like my attitude. I have emailed them back requesting my check for commission earned so far. Posting halted for additional 24 hours due to off topic posting.

Jan 01 2001 - A general posting halt has been called by #smr-usenet posters due to abuse in the newsgroup. This halt will end on Jan 04 if the newsgroup has generally returned to normal. The FAQ for a.b.m.shadowrealm has also been updated.

Dec 30 2000 - Still no word from usenetserver.com, onlynews.com or newsguy.com. All other providers not detailed here have not responded as well. I am hoping that they are not answering due to the Christmas holidays.

Dec 28 2000 - Recieved email from newsguy. They state that accounts are for paying customers only. However as I am a member of their referral program their page says I'm entitled to a free 24 hour account. Just in case they happen to change their practice and remove that from their partner program I have screen shots to back it up.

Dec 26 2000 - Recieved mail from onlynews asking if we are still interested. Emailed them back and said of course.

Dec 20 2000 - Recieved 4 emails from usenetserver.com about our plans for server reviews.

Dec 19 2000 - Recieved mail from onlynews.com and newsfeeds.com. Onlynews asked us to wait a week to do the review due to problems with their feed (detailed on their support pages). newsfeeds.com supplied us with an account.

Dec 18 2000 - Randori emailed us and supplied an account for us.

Dec 16 2000 - Sent email to every premium news service provider we have a link to. I asked them if they would be willing to provide us with an account for 24 to 48 hours so we could do a review of their service.
