Pattom.A.Thanu Pillai
Pattom.A.Thanupillai
was the Chief Minister of Kerala State from 22nd February 1960 to 25th
Sempember 1962. Before the formation of Kerala state, he served as the
Prime Minister of Travancore-Cochin from March 24, 1948 to October 22,
1948 and as its Chief Minister from March, 1954 to February 1955.
Pattom.A.Thanupillai
was born on July 15, 1885 at Thiruvananthapuram as son of Varadayyan
and Eswari Amma. After taking degree in Law he started practicing as a
lawyer, but soon left the profession and joined Indian National
Congress and became an active participant of Indian Freedom Struggle.
Later he sided with PSP, and became the Chief minister of PSP-Congress
coalition ministry.
He served as
Governor of Punjab from 1962 to 1964 and as Governor of Andhra Pradesh
from 1964 to 1968. He passed away on July 27, 1970.
