  • SCOUT COMMENTS
"He's never going to be a big point-producer. He's a third- or fourth-line, tenacious, in-your-face type of player. It's important for him to get stronger and build his body up. He's a tough, hard player to play against. He's a pest on the ice." -- Red Wings assistant general manager Jim Nill (June 2005) ...

    STRENGTHS
Impressive balance and deceiving strength ... plays strong game along the boards ... tenacious work ethic that helps him win many 1-on-1 battles for the puck ... good skater with above-average overall offensive skill and finishing ability ... gets his nose dirty, dishing and receiving hits ... stirs things up all over the ice, agitating the opposition and getting involved ... energetic puck-pursuer ...

    WEAKNESSES
Tough physical game combined with lack of size leaves him prone to injuries ... lacks discipline at times ... must channel aggression better ... at least earlier in his career, was considered a bad off-ice influence, but no public problems of late ...

    PROJECTION
The Red Wings have been looking for Jamtin to have a breakthrough offensive season in Europe, and it hasn't happened. The Red Wings like his grit and physical edge, but aren't sure whether they want to sign him because he is not yet ready for the NHL. If they don't get him under contract by June 2006, Jamtin will become an unrestricted free agent.
